Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Turtle Card!

Southern Ontario has a great diversity of Canadian turtles living here. They can be found in a variety of habitats such as lakes, ponds, rivers, marshes, and bogs.  Turtles are reptiles with hard shells that protect them from predators. They are among the oldest and most primitive groups of reptiles, having evolved millions of years ago. Turtles live all over the world in almost every type of climate.

OTCC’s hospital not only admits and treats individuals from across the province, but it also serves as a monitor of the health of turtle populations in general, as well as the health of the whole ecosystem that the turtles live in.  Any turtles admitted with signs of illness can be tested as to the cause.

The Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre (OTCC) is selling mini valentine cards with 100 per cent of the sale proceeds going towards medical care for turtles at the OTCC Turtle Hospital and for the conservation of Ontario’s turtles.  OTCC’s mission is to protect and conserve Ontario’s native turtles and their habitat.

The Valentine Cards are available as a sample pack with six cards (one of each design) or a classroom pack containing 30 cards (five each of six designs), or a jumbo pack containing 48 cards.  The cards are available to purchase (envelopes not included) and the cost ranges from $5 to $32.

To purchase your Valentine’s cards, please visit Valentine’s Day Card Pack – Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre.  The cards will be shipped out to you or they are available for pick up.  The OTCC is located at 4-1434 Chemong Road in Selwyn.  Email:  info@ontarioturtle.ca

Help support the local hospital programs for our turtles!

If you come across an injured turtle, call the OTCC at 705-741-5000.  If they do not answer, leave them a message and they will get back to you as soon as possible.  The OTCC states that an injured animal needs medical attention as soon as possible.

Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre (home of Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre) is a registered charity whose goal is to protect and conserve Ontario’s native turtles and the habitat in which they live. They accomplish this by operating a turtle hospital that treats, rehabilitates, and releases injured turtles, by performing extensive research in the field to further conservation initiatives, and by running a comprehensive education and outreach program.
