September at Kawartha Downs: A Month of Community and Fall Fun

September brings the arrival of fall, and with it comes a great lineup of events and activities at Kawartha Downs. Whether you enjoy getting creative, spending time with friends and family, or discovering something a little different, there are plenty of reasons to make Kawartha Downs part of your September plans.  Located on County Road 28 in Fraserville, just outside of Peterborough Kawartha Downs continues to be a gathering place for people from across the Kawarthas.

Kawartha Downs is known for Standardbred harness racing.  The track offers free parking, dining options, a licensed patio and bar, and other amenities for visitors.  For racing fans, September is a great time to check the schedule and enjoy an evening at the track as the racing season heads toward its conclusion.

Looking for a fun way to welcome the season and spend some time with friends, family or fellow community members? Fall Sign Painting with Katie is a fall-themed sign-painting workshop with Katie’s Rustic Design. Food and beverages will be available before and during the event. ID is required, as the workshop is being held in the casino restaurant.

Kawartha Model Train Show — September 26 & 27

One of the biggest September events at Kawartha Downs is the 2nd Annual Kawartha Model Train Show, taking place Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2026.  Whether you are a lifelong model railway enthusiast or simply looking for something different to do with the family, this is a great opportunity to spend a fall weekend exploring the world of miniature railways.

Train enthusiasts, families and curious visitors can explore a large selection of new and used model trains in a variety of makes, models and sizes. The show will also feature impressive layouts created by clubs and individual builders.

Saturday, September 26: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Sunday, September 27: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Admission: $7 cash at the door

Children under 12: Free
